This way, when you thaw it, it’s already seasoned and ready to cook—no extra waiting required! 2. WHOLE CHICKEN Boil a whole chicken, debone it, and freeze it in portioned bags. Freeze the broth for future use in soups, stews, or rice dishes. This saves time and ensures you always have flavorful, ready-to-use chicken. 3. GARLIC and ONIONS Portion pre-minced garlic into an ice cube tray, freeze, then store garlic cubes in a ziplock bag. Portion pre-minced onions into ziplock bags. Now you can grab a garlic cube or an onion bag anytime you need them without the chopping hassle. 4. Pre-Cook in Big BATCHES & Freeze! Freezing full meals is great, but you know what’s even better? Pre-cooking ingredients so you can whip up fresh meals in no time! Let’s be real—do you actually love eating frozen leftovers? Maybe sometimes, but nothing beats a freshly cooked meal! By cooking and freezing key ingredients, meal prep gets way easier, and you save tons of time during the week. Think about it—how much time do we spend cooking and washing pots, blenders, and utensils every time we make a meal? Now imagine using the same pots and kitchen tools just once and getting multiple meals out of it. That’s a serious time-saver! Try this: Make a big batch of meat sauce, portion it into freezer bags, and store for quick meals like spaghetti, tacos, or shepherd’s pie. Just thaw, cook, and enjoy! How I Prepared 2 Meals and Pre-Prepped for 8 in Less Than 2 Hours! Using the above hacks, I was able to prepare two meals and pre-prep for eight future meals in under two hours, including cooking and pot washing time . Here’s how: Used a Ninja blender to quickly chop cabbage and carrots for the coleslaw salad, along with onions for the rest of the meals. Saved extra carrots and boiled them for my baby’s meals. Precooked 9 portions of ground beef — a total of 4.5kg beef — with pre-minced onions, then portioned and froze 8. Now, I have ready-to-use beef for meals like shepherd's pie, spaghetti, tacos, and more. Used one portion of the minced beef mix for today’s spaghetti dinner! Prepared coleslaw salad using a mayo-based recipe. The End Product: Spaghetti, coleslaw salad, boiled carrots for baby, and 8 pre-cooked minced beef! My technique: I placed freezer bags into cups to hold them open, making it easy to portion and store the cooked beef! 5. Pre-Cut CHEESE slices I used to hate slicing cheese every time I made my kids’ sandwiches. Then one day, I thought— why not cut the whole cheese block at once? And guess what? I’ve never looked back! Now, whenever we get a cheese block, I slice it all at once for sandwiches or cube it for quick, grab-and-go snacks . I even pop the cubes into small containers for easy lunchbox packing . One simple trick, and snack time just got way easier! 6. Here's an Obvious One, But Wouldn't Go Back to Cooking Without it: Keep the TRASH Close While Prepping! Optimize Screen-Time with these BEST Apps 10 Genius Organization Hacks to declutter fast Here’s how to tackle it faster and smarter—so your weekends truly feel like yours! 1. Plan a DAILY Cleaning Schedule Why spend an entire Saturday cleaning when you can tackle small tasks during the week? Here's how it's been working for me and my family: Daily: Do the dishes , wipe down the countertops and kitchen table and vacuum high-traffic areas like the kitchen and the entrance. Monday: Toss laundry into the washing machine and dryer, and then make time later to fold. Tuesday: Water the plants . Clean the pet's cage . Wednesday: Wipe down bathroom surfaces (5-10 minutes tops!) Thursday: Dust key surfaces like the TV stand and shelves Why concentrate one whole day on making your home look perfect, if the very next day it gets messed up again?! Little daily decluttering and clean-ups takes less effort, less time, and is more maintainable. And by spreading out the work, your weekends stay chore-free, and your home still feels fresh. 2. PRIORITIZE High-Traffic Areas Not every room needs constant attention . Focus on spaces you use daily—like the kitchen , bathroom , and living room . Leave the guest room or home office for another day. 3. LAUNDRY : Divide and Conquer! Don't let laundry consume your weekends! I personally have made it a habit to start with a load of the kids' clothes on MONDAYS , and then make it their responsibility to help out with the folding throughout the week! Divide it out during the week. Toss in a load before work, and fold it while catching up on your favorite show. Bonus: Using a laundry hamper with sorting sections m akes life so much easier. Check this multi-laundry baskets on wheels , to save the on back pains! Plus the style! Pro tip: Look into dryer balls to speed up drying time by improving airflow and separating clothes , allowing hot air to circulate more efficiently. They also soften fabrics , reduce static , and can cut drying time by 15-25% —a small investment with big returns. 4. The 15-Minute TIMER Timers aren’t just for baking cookies. Set one for 15 minutes and see how much you can accomplish. Focus on one area —the living room or kitchen—and go all in. You’d be amazed how motivating a ticking clock can be. This hack works wonders for moms juggling tight schedules AND are great to include the kids and keep them motivated! Check out this digital magnetic timer t hat's also cute and practical! Related: Transform Dull Chores into Life-Enriching OPPORTUNITIES: Make Homemaking & Organization Enjoyable! 5. Turn Chores into a FAMILY AFFAIR Housework isn’t (and shouldn’t be) a solo mission. Get the whole family involved! Kids AND teens can handle tasks like putting toys away or wiping tables and clearing the dishwasher , help with laundry or vacuuming . My kids and I have worked hard over the years for them to learn to help around the house. Now with a baby around, I've explained that I cannot do everything, that we can each learn to do our own responsibilities AND help in other home tasks. My 8 and 5 year old boys now are able to fold some of their laundry , they handle the pet 's cage and food, they bring their dishes to the sink , wipe down the table , and help out with the dishwasher . Without asking, my 8 year old loves wiping down the bathroom sink to " make it look shiny". And my 5 yo keeps on asking if he can "please do some vacuum "! And even though not done perfectly, I just let it him do it and feel proud about it ;) To get the kids motivated : Tie completed tasks to privileges or rewards , and make it fun! Set timers for a race against the clock Turn on a favorite playlist. Check out these cute, magnetic chore chart s to get the kids into it! As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work”—or at least quicker work! 6. DECLUTTER one space in just 20-minutes ! Clutter is sneaky! It creeps into your life one misplaced item at a time , and suddenly your home feels like chaos! Learn how to spend just 20 minutes a day tackling one clutter hotspot —your kitchen, your pantry, the laundry room, or the entryway. You can learn this 20-minute Declutter & Reorganize strategy with our 4 day challenge. Do you want to get the complete guide? Subscribe to our email list HERE or down below the comments section to get step-by-step tips delivered straight to your inbox. Keep baskets handy for quick sorting and use a simple rule: if you haven’t used it in six months, donate it. Fun fact: According to a UCLA study, cluttered homes can actually raise stress levels, so decluttering isn’t just good for your home—it’s good for your sanity . ( Source ) 7. Master the Clean-as-You-Go Habit Imagine this: you cook dinner, and instead of a pile of dishes waiting, they’re already done because you cleaned as you cooked. Magical, right? Adopting a “clean-as-you-go” habit prevents messes from piling up. Wipe counters, load dishes, and do mini-tidies throughout the day. It’s a small effort that pays off big. 8 . ADOPT the ONE-MINUTE RULE This golden rule is a game-changer: if it takes less than one minute, do it now. Picking up toys, wiping a spill, or putting away shoes takes seconds but saves you from a bigger mess later. I've used this trick countless times, and it's become a part of my daily routine . I even turn it into a fun challenge for the kids —when they know a task will only take a few seconds, they’re much more willing to pitch in. And guess what! In just a minute, the space feels calmer, the mess is under control, and we all get to start the day with a little more peace! Small habits like this add up to a cleaner home without feeling like work! 9. Maximize with Multi-Tasking Cleaning TOOLS Say hello to time-saving gadgets! I personally have 2 cordless, self-charging, wall-mounted vacuums; one for each floor of my home. I LOVE the practicality and the light-weight. Check out this Cordless Vacuum Cleaner , with a touch-screen, and wall-mounted charging (Rated 4.7/5 on amazon) A robot vacuum—hello, Roomba —can keep your floors spotless while you’re at work or playing with the kids. Investing in the right tools upfront saves hours every week. It’s worth it. 10. OUTSOURCE / AUTOMATE And free up yourself for more what matters most! Sometimes, the smartest move is to let someone else do the work. Hire a cleaner for deep-cleaning sessions or use grocery delivery services . Click here and check out VOILÀ for grocery delivery and save hours of errand time! Jump to: #1 FAMILY Quality Time #2 PARENT-CHILD One-on-One Quality Time #3 SIBLINGS Quality Time #4 Quality ME-TIME! IDEAS for Quality Time for the Family IDEAS for Quality Me-Time AND for the Family In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy for family connections to take a backseat to packed schedules and endless to-do lists! But at the heart of every strong family is the quality time spent together. According to Parents , quality family time strengthens the parent-child bond , building trust , emotional security , and essential social skills that support a child’s development . ( Source ) Understanding the value of quality family time is one thing, but finding ways to make it happen—while also carving out 'me time'—can feel like a challenge. Here, you’ll discover creative ways to strengthen bonds across every relationship in your home —parents with children, siblings with one another, and even each family member with themselves. Dive in and find your next favorite way to celebrate family life together! #1 Establish FAMILY Quality Time Make family quality time a priority this year by scheduling at least one weekly family night . This dedicated time strengthens bonds and creates lasting memories. #2 PARENT-CHILD One-on-One Quality Time Busy schedules sometimes make it hard to focus on one-on-one time . Schedule 10-15 minutes or more with each child doing something they enjoy. What if you have more than one child? How can you keep up?? You can switch kids between you parents Have some kids spend some quality sibling time OR some me-time, while you spend time with one child. Of course promising their turn will come — And KEEPING that promise! If you really have no way of giving this time to all your children on the same day, you can set one day per child . Example: Child1-Monday, Child2-Tuesday, Child3-Wednesday, etc. If one evening you have plans, make sure to give the time back. It may seem unfair to the other children when you first start doing it. But when they see that you stick to their promised one-on-one time, they'll be looking forward to it! #3 SIBLINGS Quality Time Strong sibling relationships don’t just happen—they’re built through positive shared experiences. Create opportunities for siblings to spend meaningful time together. Cooperative games, creative projects and outdoor adventures encourage teamwork and bonding. Set aside a “sibling time” each week where kids work on a project, play a game, or read to one another. Not only does this foster connection, but it also teaches communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. AND... How about some #4 Quality ME -TIME?! Call it Me-Time, Alone-Time, Self-Care or Mental-Health! This is something that we only recently realized our kids needed. Being bombarded everyday with activities, school, friends, siblings —AND parents— leaves little room for them to be alone, recharge, reflect on their thoughts, or explore their creativity ! Think about it! They don't get the time to "miss" playing with their siblings. My husband and I absolutely LOVE watching our 2 boys play together. ut we equally dislike those moments when playtime spirals into fights, shouting matches, name-calling, and situations that force us to step in. ! While we recognize these conflicts as learning opportunities, we often found ourselves completely drained. So, we decided to try something new. After discussing it as a family, we introduced the idea of scheduling "me-time." We explained to the kids that this wasn’t a punishment but an important practice to recharge and reflect. Spending time alone is not only okay but beneficial for everyone. As adults in real life, we are not always surrounded people. Practicing some me-time helps prepare our kids to grow into independent, thoughtful adults. It gives them space to reflect on their thoughts, values, and relationships and to choose friendships wisely. AND they learn to understand that parents also need quiet time to recharge. Did you know? According to Psychology Today , " children benefit when their parents are happy and mentally healthy ." Parents’ frustration and anger can negatively impact the entire family's well-being. ( Source ) Also, Washington Parent highlights that constantly g iving 100% attention to kids can blur boundaries and prevent children from developing self-soothing and self-care skills . By carving out 'me time ,' parents recharge emotionally , which fosters a healthier environment for children to grow into independent individuals who also value self-care . ( Source ) Speak of self-care and mental health! Self-care is just as important for kids as it is for adults . Alone-time gives everyone in the family the chance to recharge emotionally, reflect on their thoughts, and improve their mental well-being. It helps create a calmer and more balanced environment for everyone. Related topics: 25 Family-Building 2025 Goals: Make & Keep New Year’s Resolutions! Optimize Screen-Time with These Best Apps: #1 HelloSimply What if screen time could unlock a love for music? SimplyPiano , SimplyGuitar , and SimplySing make learning music accessible, fun, and interactive for kids and adults alike! Growing up in a musical family, music was a big part of my life. I loved singing and playing instruments, and I took it for granted that my kids would naturally grow into loving and playing music as well. It seemed obvious—how could they not when music brought so much joy and connection to our home? As our kids started growing up, my husband and I introduced different musical instruments, hoping one would stick. When my eldest turned six, I began teaching him the basics of piano. At first, there was some interest, but it didn’t last. I tried everything— encouragement, fun practice ideas, and gentle reminders. Nothing worked! I realized I didn’t want music to become a chore or feel like an obligation, so I let go. It was hard to set my own expectations aside, especially as someone who grew up immersed in music, but I didn’t want to force it. I felt disappointed and even a little defeated, thinking I had failed to pass on my love of music to my children. Then, about a year later, something unexpected happened. Our five-year-old discovered the Simply Piano app. He gave it a try, finished the first free level, and loved it! He wanted to keep going , so I told him that if he promised to take it seriously, I’d invest in a subscription. He agreed, and his enthusiasm didn’t waver. To my surprise, our older son, now eight, was inspired by his younger brother’s excitement and decided to give piano another try. Fast forward three months, and both of them are passionately pursuing piano, all thanks to this engaging app. They eagerly await their turns to practice and are now playing trending songs—with both hands! It’s amazing to see how Simply Piano turned something they once resisted into a source of joy and pride. As a parent, I’ve learned that sometimes it’s okay to let go and allow things to unfold in their own time . Who would have thought that an app could reignite their love for music and bring piano into their daily lives? Reflect on 2024: Looking Back Before Moving Forward Before we jump into the resolutions, let’s hit pause , reflect on the past year , and reflect on what worked—and what didn’t—so you can make 2025 the year where your family thrives. Spend 10-15 minutes discussing these questions as a family or reflecting on them personally. Write down what you’re proud of, what you’d like to improve, and how you can learn from challenges . What Went Well ? What moments brought joy and connection to your family? What routines or systems worked well at home? What are you proud of as a family—big or small? What Didn’t Work ? What felt stressful , overwhelming, or chaotic? Are there areas where disorganization caused frustration? Did you struggle with too much screen time , sibling conflicts , or inconsistent routines ? What Needs More Focus in this New Year ? Where would you like to see improvement ? (e.g., spending more quality time, decluttering, managing chores, or encouraging positive sibling relationships). What habits can you build to bring more calm, connection, and joy? Celebrate what worked—and be kind to yourself about what didn’t. Growth starts here. RESET with these Family-Building 2025 Goals: Make & Keep New Year’s Resolutions! Build a “Family 2025 Vision Board” Together Start by discussing what a successful 2025 looks like for your family —keeping those 2024 reflections in mind. Brainstorm areas where you'd like to improve and successes you'd like to pursue. Once you’ve gathered ideas, choose 2-3 key focus points for each month to make progress achievable. Bring it all to life by creating a visual board together—a daily reminder of your shared goals and vision for the new year. Use this cork-whiteboard-chalkboard all-in-one to keep all the family on one page. Write down the monthly focus vision. Write down any achievements to celebrate, or even pin then to the board! Create a Family Bucket List for the Year 2025 Brainstorm fun activities you’d love to do as a family this year—like visiting a zoo, baking a giant cake, or going camping. Check them off as you go! Have Regular Family Check-Ins Once a week, sit down together to talk about highs, lows, and goals for the week ahead. This resolution fosters communication, makes the resolutions alive and lets everyone feel heard and supported. Celebrate Family Achievements Create a “Family Achievement Wall”—to celebrate wins , big and small. From school achievements to learning new skills, acknowledging successes builds confidence and positivity. Start a Family Journal or Scrapbook Document your family’s favorite moments throughout 2025 . Write down memories, paste photos, or have each family member contribute a drawing or note. This resolution is a creative way to bond while building a keepsake to treasure for years. Establish QUALITY TIME FAMILY Quality Time Life gets busy, and it’s easy for family time to take a backseat. Make it a priority this year by scheduling one weekly family night. Whether you’re playing board games , watching a movie together, or enjoying an outing , this dedicated time strengthens bonds and creates lasting memories. Family board games like Catan , Uno , or twister are perfect for all ages, while cozy throw blankets and a popcorn maker turn movie nights into a special tradition. Check out this really fun Wood Burning Kit older kids and teens! Your kids will be psyched with this Crystal Growing Kit PARENT-CHILD Quality Time Busy schedules sometimes make it hard to focus on one-on-one time . Make it a resolution to spend 10-15 minutes daily with each child doing something they enjoy. A game I often get asked to play with my 8-year-old, is chess . It's fun AND intellectual, all while enjoying the quality time! SIBLING Quality Time Strong sibling relationships don’t just happen—they’re built through positive shared experiences. This year, create opportunities for siblings to spend meaningful time together. Cooperative games, creative projects like this world map puzzle , this " where's Waldo " book, or this glow in the dark crafts , and outdoor adventures encourage teamwork and bonding. Let me add! How about some ALONE-TIME?! Being bombarded everyday with activities, school, friends, siblings —AND parents, doesn't leave any space for them to be alone, to recharge, to reflect on their thoughts, and to explore their creativity! And honestly, they don't get the time to "miss" playing with their siblings. Check out these 35 FUN Family Quality-Time & Alone-Time Ideas Create a Family Reading Challenge Reading is one of the most valuable life skills, and it’s never too early to build a love for books. As our kids grow up, they’re diving into the world of reading—and absolutely loving it! My husband and I value the importance of reading , not just as a skill but as a foundation for a successful, fulfilling life. For this Christmas, we even chose books as gifts for our kids, as a way to show them that books can be just as fun and exciting as toys or games! You would think they might throw a tantrum at the idea of replacing toys with books—but no! We brought them along to the bookstore and let them pick out their very own stories . To keep the excitement rolling, we reassured them that plenty of other gifts from family and friends were still coming their way. Watching them carefully pick their stories and look forward to reading them reminded us how engaging and enjoyable books can be for kids. A family reading challenge is a fun way to take this further—set a goal for how many books you’ll read together each month, or pick a “family book of the week” to enjoy as a group. For younger kids, try reading aloud together; for older ones, encourage them to share what they’ve read. Make it exciting with a chart or rewards for milestones reached! Here are some of the highest rated books For 3-5 year olds: There's No Place Like Space! All About Our Solar System How to Catch a Dinosaur Don't Push the Button! Encourage kids to write to grandparents, cousins, or friends. It’s a great way to practice gratitude, improve writing skills, and make someone’s day. Practice Gratitude as a Family Gratitude shifts focus from what’s missing to what’s abundant . Make gratitude part of your family’s daily routine—share one thing you’re thankful for at dinner or bedtime. A family gratitude journal or a jar where everyone writes down notes of gratitude each week helps build positivity and connection. Did you know? Studies show that practicing gratitude regularly can boost happiness by up to 25%! A thriving mom equals a thriving family. Reading a short family devotional or Bible storybook together once or twice a week creates meaningful moments and builds a foundation of love and peace. Check out this comic-style Action Bible . This is the one we have at home and my kids LOVE our Action-Bible reading time, keeping them engaged and interested. Plan Monthly Family Adventures Adventure doesn’t need to mean expensive trips. These mini-adventures give kids something exciting to look forward to and strengthen family bonds. Make outdoor time a regular part of your family’s routine. Choose one evening a week for screen-free fun, like playing cards, building puzzles, or enjoying creative activities together. Jigsaw puzzles challenge everyone while building teamwork, and games like Connect-4 or Snakes & Ladders are great for kids and adults. Create Screen-Rich Times: Turn the Screen-Time Problem into Opportunities! Screens don’t have to be the enemy—they can be tools for growth when used intentionally. This year, turn screen time into opportunities for learning new skills . Click here to Optimize Screen-Time with these BEST Apps Whether it’s exploring music through virtual lessons, discovering coding basics with kid-friendly apps, or diving into eBooks and audiobooks , technology can help kids grow and learn. Set time limits and choose quality content to ensure screen time remains productive and enriching for the whole family. Treat your kids to some mind-enriching audiobook with Audible . In our family, screen time was starting to take over —so we decided to do something about it. Three months ago, my husband and I made a bold move: no electronic games or shows on weekdays, only on weekends. Check the SimplyPiano App here The kids were not thrilled. There were tears, there were “It’s not fair!” protests. But we stuck to our plan and explained that this was not a punishment, that it's for their brain development, their relationship together and us as a family. What we didn’t anticipate was how this shift would spark a new passion . They discovered a love for music! Using the SimplyPiano app, our 8 and 5-year-olds dove into piano lessons. And after just three months, they’re playing with both hands! Turns out, less screen time doesn’t just mean fewer shows—it can open the door to surprising new passions. Who knew! Try the SimplyPiano , also available, are online lessons for guitar AND singing ! Turn screen-free time into music time! Invest in this highly rated piano and spark your child's creativity. Free-Screen Times Let's face it. We live in a high tech age! Screens are everywhere we go. Our kids will use electronics and there no way around it. And why should there be?! Afterall, we played videos games and watched movies growing up, and we still do —not that this is the standard! The key is balance. We want our kids to develop social and life-skills, to grow into healthy, mentally stable adults. AND we want them to enjoy life. The question is: How frequently and how long should our kids spend on electronic? This is something for you to search and determine together as parents. For our family, we have set 2 hours electronic games and 1 hour watching on Saturday and Sunday. On weekdays, we allow for 30-60 minutes of watching based on behavior . Our kids know that asking for electronics first thing in the morning will not work. I value waking up, being together as a family, talking, eating, playing, bonding, agreeing on the day's schedule. Electronics in our family is an afternoon/evening activities for times when we need a slow-low-time. The key is to discuss as a family, and explain to your kids: the risks of too-much screen-time the benefits of screen-free times possibly exchanging some with "screen-rich" times and agreeing on a schedule together and stick to it. Create a Family Command Center Keeping track of everyone’s schedules , to-dos , and paperwork can feel overwhelming. A family command center solves this by providing one central hub for organization. Hang a magnetic wall calendar to track appointments, school events, and chores. Add hooks for keys, mail organizers, and a bulletin board for important notes. Even better! Keep your family organized and in sync with this 15-Inch Digital Calendar & Daily Planner ! Featuring a touchscreen smart display, it’s perfect for managing work, office, and family schedules. Cook a New Recipe Together Once a Month Cooking as a family builds life skills and creates fun, shared memories . Choose one new recipe each month, let kids assist, and celebrate your culinary success— no matter how it turns out! Simplify Meal Planning Together Mealtime can be chaotic without a plan, but a simple meal routine changes everything. Sit down as a family once a week to plan meals and grocery lists . To involve kids, let them help choose one dinner and assist with cooking . Tools like an Instant Pot simplify meal prep on busy days. Meal planning saves time, reduces stress, and encourages healthier habits. Declutter and Organize Together Too much clutter causes stress, and it’s tough to maintain a tidy home with kids. Commit to decluttering together one area at a time —whether it’s the toy room, closets, or kitchen. Use toy storage bins to organize and label toys or books, and involve kids by letting them pick items to donate . Teach Kids Responsibility with Chores Teaching kids age-appropriate chores empowers them, teaches life skills , and lightens your load. Start simple—young kids can tidy toys, while older ones can help with dishes or laundry . A chore chart keeps tasks visible and fun, and a kid-sized cleaning set makes chores feel like play. This resolution creates teamwork and instills a sense of responsibility that benefits the whole family. Simplify Family Routines Morning and evening chaos is common for families, but routines help. A family routine chart makes it easy for everyone to know their responsibilities and reduces daily stress. Start simple—morning charts for kids to get dressed, brush teeth, and tidy up, and evening routines for calming down before bed. Consistency is key. Check out this post for more in-dept ideas on essential family cooperation in home chores: Transform Dull Chores into Life-Enriching OPPORTUNITIES: Make Homemaking & Organization Enjoyable! Create a “Random Acts of Kindness” Jar Fill a jar with ideas for random acts of kindness, like helping a neighbor, writing thank-you notes, or donating toys . Pull out an idea each week to spread love and teach kids the joy of giving! - NEW YOU in 2025: DAILY Self Care Routine for Busy Moms!
Have you ever felt like your life is one endless to-do list, and you’re stuck on autopilot? Moms, you’re not alone. It’s easy to get lost in the hustle of family life and forget to hit pause for yourself. This is a game-changer: Self care isn’t about luxury; it’s about surviving—and thriving . Let 2025 be the year of new beginnings: new priorities, new resolutions, and a renewed you. Start the year with energy and enthusiasm as you fully embrace self care and make it a foundation for your personal growth and happiness! In this guide, we’ll explore what self care truly means, why it’s so vital, and how to make it an effortless part of your routine. Spoiler alert: A little self care can create big ripple effects for your family’s happiness! What Is Self Care, and Why Does It Matter? Self care is not just bubble baths and spa days (though those are nice). It’s the small, intentional acts that fuel your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Think of it as recharging your battery—because, let’s face it, you can’t pour from an empty cup. For moms, who are often the glue holding everything together, self care is the secret weapon for staying strong and sane! From my personal experience , incorporating some of these self care practices into my life has made a whole difference in my mood, energy, and patience toward the most precious beings in my life. To name a few, in the past few months I've been working on my prayer life, practicing gratitude, taking stretching breaks, decluttering a few times a week, and limiting negativity. And boy, has that made an impact on my life! Why Is Self Care Important? Imagine trying to run a marathon without training, hydration, or even proper shoes. You wouldn’t make it very far, right? That’s exactly what life feels like when you neglect self care. It’s not just an inconvenience; it’s setting yourself up for unnecessary struggles. Here’s how making yourself a priority benefits you AND everyone: Improved mental health: Self care helps keep anxiety and burnout at bay. Higher energy levels: Refueling regularly means you can tackle your day with vitality and enthusiasm. Better relationships: A well-cared-for mom is more patient, loving, and fun! Stronger physical health: You’ll be better equipped to chase after toddlers or handle the chaos of teen drama. Risks of Ignoring Self Care What happens when you skip self care? Imagine ignoring the check-engine light on your car, driving endlessly without a tune-up. Eventually, the engine sputters, the wheels wobble, and you’re left stranded. That’s what happens to your mind and body when you skip self care. Here are the warning signs you shouldn’t ignore: Disconnection: When you’re drained, it’s hard to be present and enjoy your family. Irritability : Ever snapped at your kids or partner because you’re running on fumes? Yep, that’s the result of a lack of self care. Burnout: Constant giving with no receiving leads to emotional and physical exhaustion . Health problems: Chronic stress can wreak havoc on your heart, immunity, and sleep. The good news? These risks are entirely avoidable when you prioritize yourself. Who Needs Self Care? Self care isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution—but one thing’s universal: Everyone needs it. Moms especially. Why? Because your role is demanding, and your well-being sets the tone for the entire household. Remember, when you take care of yourself, you’re not taking away from your family; you’re giving them the best version of you. Why Moms Need Self Care Think of self care as putting on your oxygen mask first—because if you can’t breathe, you can’t help anyone else. Here’s why it’s a must for moms: Patience is a finite resource: Regular breaks and self-nurturing refill your patience tank. Motherhood is a marathon, not a sprint: Avoid burnout by pacing yourself with regular rest and relaxation. You deserve it: Being a mom doesn’t mean losing yourself. You matter too. You’re a role model: Kids learn what they see. Show them that self care is a priority. How Often Should You Practice Self Care? The key is consistency, not extravagance. Daily moments—like enjoying your coffee in peace—can be just as impactful as a monthly spa day. Find what works for you and make it non-negotiable. Daily: Quick wins like deep breathing or a short walk. Weekly: Longer practices like stretching exercises, a hobby, or catching up with a friend. Monthly: Treat yourself to something special, like a massage or a solo outing. Transform Your Life: Daily Self Care Routine for Busy Moms in 2025! Not sure where to start? Start with these simple yet powerful ideas. Incorporate some or ALL of these ideas into your daily schedule: Morning mindfulness: Set a calm tone with 5 minutes of prayer. Practice gratitude: Write down three things you’re thankful for every morning. Hydrate like a pro: Keep water handy and make it a habit. Move your body: Find a fun way to get active—dancing, yoga, or a brisk walk. Get nourished: Choose energizing, nutrient-dense meals and snacks. Carve out alone time: Even 15 minutes to read or journal can feel like a mini-vacation. Reconnect with friends: A quick chat can lift your mood. Tidy up one corner: A decluttered space can declutter your mind. Limit screen time: Set boundaries with your devices to avoid burnout. Thanks for supporting StyLoveLife. Don’t we all dream of a home that’s permanently picture-perfect? I know I wish I could declutter, organize, and deep-clean once and for all! But let’s be real—life doesn’t work that way! Especially with a family of three boys (and my biggest kid, my husband!)—our home is in constant motion, and nothing stays pristine for long! I've learned to accept that my home won’t always look like a staged photo, and honestly, that’s okay! Living with a family means the occasional mountain of toys, stray dishes, and maybe a schoolbook or two on the kitchen table. So, just embrace the beautiful chaos… right? Hah! Just the thought of it raised my blood pressure! While we can be real and accept little signs of family life scattered around the house, who says we can’t also have the satisfaction of an organized space? That said, house chores too often feel overwhelming—just another set of recurring tasks to check off the list , especially in our busy lives filled with priorities, responsibilities, activities, and projects. Stick around, and let’s make homemaking & organization enjoyable, stress-free, and maybe even a little fun! From Chores to Cheer: Make Homemaking & Organization Enjoyable #1 Set Your Priorities Straight! Ask yourself: “Why am I cleaning up? To be tidy. Alright, but why? So things don’t become a cluttered eyesore. Okay, and why does that matter? To decrease my stress levels. And why’s that important? I want to feel relaxed, rested, and genuinely happy to spend time with my kids and husband.” That is the real reason—this is the end purpose! I’ll be honest—there was a time when I was so focused on house chores that (1) it stole precious time away from my loved ones, and (2) left me stressed and irritable when things weren’t perfectly finished, which then affected how I interacted with my family. Then it hit me: I don’t live for my home; together as a family, we build this house with moments and memories. This says it best: "A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams." – Ralph Waldo Emerson That realization changed everything. I took a step back and remembered what truly matters : spending quality time and making memories with family and friends, strengthening my faith, and deepening my walk with God— all while creating a home that feels organized and inviting. It’s amazing how freeing it is to shift your perspective! When I focus on enjoying our home instead of obsessing over perfection, homemaking becomes a lot more rewarding. Make Homemaking & Organization Enjoyable #2 Divide and Conquer: Make It a Team Effort Household responsibilities can feel like a battle when it’s all left to one person. In this day and age, why do we still think of housework as only mom’s job? I believe in dividing up family tasks equitably. In our household, I do handle the majority of housework. I mean, let’s be honest, my husband is our family’s financial “manager”, “accountant”, tech pro, plumber, builder and renovator, just to name a few… and dependably so! I take on this housekeeping mission with pleasure. Let’s call us moms and home organizers: The “Home Operations Manager”. Think of it this way: Have you ever seen a company or department manager trying to be a one-man show, juggling everything alone? Without team support, the department doesn’t advance, team members remain unskilled and unmotivated, and eventually, the manager faces burnout. In the end, the company’s mission is left unachieved—or even fails entirely! Why do we think only we, as moms, are supposed to do it all? As Home Operations Managers, our role isn’t to do it all, but to guide, delegate, and involve everyone. Regular family meetings can be a game-changer: Communicate household needs , identify problem areas, set expectations , invite their input and suggestions , celebrate victories (and address setbacks if needed), and even give rewards . This helps us overcome the daily “ battles ” of housework together as a team. We can train our family members to improve their skills in contributing to the household, we can then delegate tasks over time, freeing ourselves to focus on other priorities—perhaps even enhancing our family home, rather than just getting by with daily chores and maintenance tasks. Just like a company thrives with a team effort, involving family members in household tasks keeps things running smoothly. Not only does this lighten your load , it also boosts their sense of worth , shows them they matter , empowers them, builds responsibility , and teaches valuable life skills they’ll use for years to come . And a bonus: It means more space for quality family time! In our home, I enjoy organizing and reorganizing—it’s my thing! And while I don’t mind tidying up, I’ll admit sweeping isn’t exactly my favorite. Thankfully, my husband steps in by taking responsibility for mopping, keeping our space fresh and clean! With our growing kids, I’m intentional about teaching them to take on age-appropriate responsibilities, helping them build valuable habits over time. They’re learning to: take care of their space by putting toys and homework away, placing dishes in the sink, emptying the dishwasher, putting dirty clothes in the laundry basket, hanging towels, folding laundry, and even making their own beds! It’s all about little tasks they can handle at their age, and I love seeing their confidence grow with each new skill. I don’t claim this process is anywhere near perfect, nor do I expect it to be. These are small, incremental steps, with ongoing training, modeling, and encouragement . Gradually, we’re learning to tackle household tasks together, dividing and conquering as a team. Why not even make it FUN for the kids to check steps and chores off the list with this Chore Chart , or maybe even this fun Magnetic Chart , available for everyone to stay on the same page. Keep your family organized and in sync with this 15-Inch Digital Calendar & Daily Planner ! Featuring a touchscreen smart display , it’s perfect for managing work, office, and family schedules. Say goodbye to forgotten chores and hello to fun, interactive list-checking that keeps everyone on the same page! Make Homemaking & Organization Enjoyable #3 Scheduled Simplicity: Organize Housework into Your Daily Routine When it comes to keeping the house in order, a systematic approach can make all the difference. Some people prefer dedicating one day for a full house clean—a solid option if that suits your routine. For me, though, I like to keep weekends free for family time, so I’ve found a different rhythm that works best for me. Instead of packing all the cleaning into one day, I incorporate smaller, manageable tasks into my daily routine. This way, I can tackle one or two specific chores each day, whether it’s a quick vacuum, a bathroom refresh, or folding a load of laundry. Breaking things down like this makes each task feel less overwhelming and allows me to keep things consistently tidy without sacrificing quality time. By setting a daily rhythm for housework, I’m able to stay on top of it all without it feeling like a major event—and best of all, weekends are left open for rest, family, and the activities we enjoy together. Check out this post for exactly how to tackle housework without the overwhelm: STOP Wasting Weekends on Housework: 10 Smart Tips for Busy Moms! Make Homemaking & Organization Enjoyable #4 The Secret Formula: Analyze. Reimagine. Adapt. Love Life. Finding a system that works for your home isn’t about rigid rules; it’s about discovering a rhythm that brings balance and ease. Check out the secret formula for creating an organized home: ANALYZE : Start by observing the natural flow of your home—how your family moves through spaces, where items tend to gather, and how daily tasks unfold. Notice the little patterns that show up each day, the habits everyone has, and where clutter tends to build up. A closer look can reveal the best way to make your space work for you. REIMAGINE : With those observations in mind, imagine your ideal setup . What changes would make your home flow better? Visualize where items belong, where you can create more convenience , and how you might rearrange spaces to support the natural rhythm of your day-to-day life. ADAPT : Put your plan into action ! Make adjustments , big or small, that align with your family’s unique lifestyle . Move things around, declutter, organize, and simplify in ways that make tasks easier and spaces more functional . The goal is a setup that feels effortless, not forced. LOVE LIFE : Embrace the joy of a home that truly supports your family. With spaces that flow and systems that compliment your family life, you’ll find yourself enjoying the simplicity and comfort of a place that feels in tune with your family’s needs. When your home works with your lifestyle, every day feels a little more balanced and enjoyable. These are the steps we take in our 4-Day 20-Minute Declutter & Reorganize Challenge . Check it out HERE! Make Homemaking & Organization Enjoyable #5 Turn Dull CHORES into Life-Enriching OPPORTUNITIES with My FAVORITE HACK ! For most of my life, home chores felt like a dull time-wasting duty that I had to get through. I dreaded them, often postponed them, and sometimes even felt resentful toward those who didn’t pitch in enough. But over the past few years, these chores have become less of a burden—and, surprisingly, even enjoyable! All thanks to the company of my favorite homemaking companion... My wireless headset! The Power of Audio: I can’t begin to count the hours of valuable information this device has brought me while I organize and clean. Each day, I pick a topic of interest , and sometimes I’ll stick with it for weeks or even months until I’m ready to move on to something new. This time feels incredibly well spent, filled with priceless knowledge and, dare I say, an education—I’ve truly learned a lot. From spirituality, culture, and society to economics, politics, and philosophy; from health, fitness, and nutrition to brain health, self-improvement, and communication; from parenting and home design to decor, DIYs, and cooking recipes—the range of topics is endless. I don’t claim to be an expert in all these fields, but I do feel more knowledgeable and articulate in a variety of conversations. I’ve found that my opinions on many topics are more well-rounded and thoughtfully developed. Thanks to my wireless earphones, I’ve transformed these time-consuming, repetitive house tasks into relaxing, engaging, educational, and inspiring moments! My Personal Favorite Wireless headset: Sennheiser Momentum in-Ear Wireless Black Headphones Bluetooth 4.1 with Qualcomm Why a headset, you ask? Sure, you could use a Bluetooth speaker, TV, or other device. I’ve tried them all, but I always return to m y wireless headset. Es pecially for noisy tasks like vacuuming, cooking with boiling water or the kitchen hood on, or washing dishes with running tap water, it keeps the sound clear and consistent. Plus, I don’t have to carry a speaker around; I’m connected and can easily pause, un-pause, make calls , or take a quick break without missing a beat. If Sennheiser is out of stock, check out this highly rated alternative : Rated 4.4/5, actually better rated than my personal ones. [Bluetooth Headphones, 150H Playtime Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds w/Mic in-Ear Magnetic Neckband Earphone, IPX7 Sweatproof Deep Bass Headset] Audiobooks and E-books : If you’re ready to make the most of your own chore time, Audible might be just the thing! This audiobook service lets you listen to books on everything from bestsellers and self-improvement to niche topics and inspiring stories. Whether you want to learn something new or unwind with a good book, Audible makes it easy to fit “reading” into even your busiest days—perfect for those moments when your hands are full, but your mind is open. Sign up for Audible here to explore a world of audiobooks that can expand your knowledge, and let you dive into topics you’re passionate about! For Those Brain-Dead Moments! I’ll admit, sometimes my brain needs a break from all the info overload! In those moments, when I’m not in the mood for more input, I gladly switch gears and give my mind a chance to unwind. A little quiet time for self-reflection—thinking about life, being grateful, or planning for the days ahead—can be just what I need. Other times, I turn on some favorite tunes and songs , letting my mind and spirit flow freely with the rhythm. Try it out the next time you’re cooking, washing dishes, folding laundry, vacuuming, or doing other tasks around the house! Conclusion Chores don’t have to be a dreaded, time-consuming duty. With a little creativity and the right tools, they can become an opportunity for relaxation, learning, and personal growth . Whether it’s dividing up tasks with your family, organizing your routine for simplicity, or finding joy in everyday moments with the help of audio , there’s a way to m ake homemaking & organization enjoyable! Entryway Closet : An entryway closet makes it easier to keep extra outdoor wear out of sight and easily accessible. If your home doesn’t have a built-in closet , consider adding a freestanding entryway coat rack or even a 2-in-1 coat and shoe rack —it’s a stylish, practical upgrade that transforms your entryway into a clutter-free zone! Mirror for Last-Minute Touch-Ups : A mirror near the door is great for a quick check before heading out. The mirror also opens up the space, adding depth and brightness! With a well-thought-out entryway, you’ll keep your space functional, organized, and welcoming for everyone who walks through the door! Grand Entrance Design For a grand entrance, think big, bold, and beautiful! All the essentials of a well-designed entryway apply, but with added space, you can go all out. Here’s how to create a luxurious and practical entryway that’s perfect for you family and guests alike: Grand Console Table as the Focal Point : Place a statement console table in the center of the entrance to anchor the space. Decorate it with elegant pieces, such as a vase with fresh flowers, a decorative bowl for keys, and stylish lighting to set an inviting tone. Full-Length Glamorous Mirror : A full-length, glamorous mirror doesn’t just enhance the aesthetic; it’s also functional, complimenting your looks before you head out. Luxurious Seating Area : Why settle for just a bench when you can create an inviting, cozy sitting area right in your grand entrance? Individual seats or a large, plush bench offer a comfortable spot for each family member. Consider making this seating area the focal point in the center of your entrance, transforming it into a functional yet stylish gathering space. For an elegant touch, arrange the console table along the wall, letting the seating area be the centerpiece that invites everyone to settle in comfortably. With the right layout, your entryway can balance beauty and practicality, setting a welcoming tone for the entire home. Built-In Storage Solutions : Keep your grand entrance clutter-free and organized with custom-built cabinets and drawers. Designate a personal storage spot for each family member for their coats, shoes, and bags. Built-ins not only add functionality but also create a clean, cohesive look. Stylish Decor and Personal Touches : Transform your entrance into a “welcome home” experience by adding luxurious decor pieces. Think large: Vases , tasteful lighting , and soft greenery. Personalize with family photos, artwork, or unique pieces that make the space feel uniquely yours. For your guests: Create a welcoming atmosphere with a dedicated standing coat rack for guests to conveniently hang their coats, hats, and bags. Add a cozy touch by providing comfy guest slippers —it's a warm gesture that brings comfort and makes them feel right at home. With these elements, your entrance can exude a luxurious, polished vibe while remaining practical for daily use —offering a warm, organized, and impressive first impression for anyone who walks through the door! Mudroom as a Part of a Garage Having your mudroom as part of the garage just makes sense , especially if you actually use your garage for parking. Imagine pulling in, stepping out, and finding everything you need right there before you walk inside! A garage mudroom is the ultimate spot for organizing outdoor essentials and keeping your home clutter-free. If your garage connects directly to your home entrance, that could be the prime spot for your outdoor gear. But if not, designing a mud space within your garage will still be the most efficient way to go. In which case, the main home entrance would be mainly used for your guests. Make room for a mud space in your garage: Get creative and clear out a designated spot! If you’re short on floor space, think vertically: install shelves, add wall-mounted racks, or even try a ceiling storage platform . With a little organization, you can easily free up room for your family’s mud space essentials while keeping everything tidy and accessible. Customize to your space and to your needs: For example, in my home, I didn’t have space for a console, so I found a wall-mounted coat hanger with an integrated shelf that holds keys and wallets in our garage mud-space. Super handy! Check out my family's modest & FUNCTIONAL Garage Mud space: Designed for Real Life ! My Organization Secret: Ideally, I would've loved to have important letters and school documents in a special place in the console table. But since having a console is not an option in my home, I keep a file organizer hidden away in a cabinet in our kitchen . I deal with the documents right away coming home, but anything for my husband goes into his designated file, and the papers that I need to keep go into a “To Be Filed” or “Taxes” section. This way, everything has a spot, and our entry stays clean and organized . You could place a similar system in the room closest to your entrance—it’s a game-changer! A Guest-Ready Entrance: Designing a mudroom within the garage frees up your main entryway to be a dedicated, clutter-free welcome space for guests. Set it up with a coat rack , a comfortable seat , cozy guest slippers , and a shoe rug to make v isitors feel right at home from the moment they step in. Mudroom as a Part of a Laundry Room Some homes have the genius combo of a laundry room mudroom—an all-in-one space for washing up and stashing outdoor gear. I think this is such a practical setup! You can add in as many of the items and ideas suggested above, tailoring it to your family’s needs and available space: Essentials like a Console Table or Shelving : Keep a console or a designated shelf with drawers for essentials like keys, wallets, and mail. Individual Storage and Seating Sections : Assign each family member their own area for shoes, coats, bags, and outdoor gear. Built-in cabinets or baskets on open shelves work well and keep things clutter-free. A small bench or seating area provides a spot to change shoes or get kids ready. Don’t forget a mirror: There’s always room for a mirror ! It’s a small addition that adds a big dose of practicality. Plus, it adds depth and light, making the space feel even more welcoming! THREE BONUS TIPS to Maximize Your Mudroom-Laundry Room: Add a Hanging Pole: Install a pole to easily hang clothes to dry, keeping them out of the way and freeing up space for other tasks. OR check out my personal choice: This Wall-Mounted Clothes Drying Rack is the one I have chosen and absolutely LOVE! Wall-Mounted Iron & Ironing Board: Save precious floor space by using a wall-mounted iron and ironing board. This makes ironing quick and convenient while keeping your room organized. This is the one in my laundry room: Wall Mounted and Door Mounted Ironing Board Hang Your Vacuum Cleaner: Make use of wall-mounted hooks or racks to hang your vacuum cleaner. This keeps it easily accessible while saving valuable floor space in a busy mudroom-laundry area. My personal home vacuum is JASHEN V18 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner But as I compare prices and ratings, I would suggest this Fieety Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, Touch Screen, Wall Mounted Charging (Rated 4.7/5 by 607 reviews). I would go for this one if I could go back and make a better choice. Adapting this laundry room mud space to fit your family’s unique needs will make your home routine so much simpler and more organized. Picture it: coming home from a beach day, kids with muddy clothes from the park, or snowy gear after a day outdoors—straight into the laundry, quick, easy, and mess-free. Amazing! Having said that, my dream home would have its laundry room on the same floor as the bedrooms and bathrooms for maximum convenience. Which brings us to the final ultimate mudroom design… The Ultimate Dream Mudroom: Where Style Meets Everyday Practicality If I Could Design My Own Home Mudroom, This Would Be it! [Note that I'm not an architect, and the measurements in this floor plan are not exact. This is simply a quick sketch to illustrate the layout of my view of an ideal mudroom placement] We've been happily settled in our home for a few years now, and our mudroom has evolved from the main entrance to a fully functional space in our garage. If I had a second chance at designing a mudroom, or to restart a home design from scratch, this is what my ideal mudroom setup would look like: 1. A Clutter-Free Garage: Dedicated purely to car parking and out-of-the-way storage. 2. A Welcoming Entryway for Guests: Picture a cozy bench, hooks for jackets, boot trays, umbrella space, and maybe even slippers for guests! 3. The Mudroom—Separate from the Entryway and Garage: Positioned as the perfect “bridge” between outdoors and indoors. It would sit between the entryway and the garage, with easy access through the garage to the backyard. 4. Strategic Access to the Pantry from the Mudroom: Imagine a convenient opening—door or window—directly into the pantry for kids to drop off lunch bags, bottles, and school bags. It’s the ultimate setup for both kids and parents, making morning prep a breeze! 5. Personalized Sections for Each Family Member: Each person would have a dedicated, labeled space with hooks, a shoe tray, and baskets. Everything they need, right at hand. 6. A Mudroom Closet for Extra Storage: We all know how things add up over the years! This closet would store extra shoes, jackets, winter gear, outdoor toys, helmets, sandbox gear, pool toys—everything in one spot! The Breezy Welcome-Home Process You drive into a spotless garage with organized storage units along finished walls and floors. You walk into the mudroom, where everyone in the family has a dedicated spot. Shoes, jackets, bags—each item has its place, helping you transition into the house effortlessly. Shape the Leaves: Gently fold each strip in half lengthwise to create a natural leaf texture. And trim the ends into points to look more like real palm fronds. Attach the Leaves to the Handle: Glue or tape each strip to a popsicle stick, wooden dowel, or straw, layering them slightly to create a full effect. Start at the bottom and work your way up, spacing them evenly. Add a Message (Optional): Use a black marker to write "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" (Mark 11:9) on one of the leaves. Suggested reading for this Palm Sunday story: Matthew 21:6-11 You can use it as Easter decor in your home.
